Diamond grinding wheels are made of diamond abrasives as raw materials and metal powder, resin powder, ceramics and electroplated metal as binding agents.

The structure of the diamond grinding wheel is mainly divided into three parts: working layer, matrix and transition layer.

In terms of application, diamond grinding wheels are often used to process metals with low iron content that are difficult to process with ordinary abrasive tools. For example, it is used in fields such as high-hardness, super-tough alloys (titanium, aluminum), ceramic materials, etc.

Structurally, diamond grinding wheels are different from ordinary abrasive grinding wheels. Ordinary abrasive grinding wheels are made by bonding ordinary abrasives into a certain shape. They generally consist of three elements: abrasive, bond and pores. The main components of a diamond grinding wheel are the diamond abrasive layer, transition layer and matrix.

The abrasive layer is the working layer, also called the diamond layer, which is the working part of the grinding wheel;

The transition layer is called the non-diamond layer and is mainly composed of binders, metal powders and fillers. The transition layer firmly connects the diamond layer to the matrix;

The matrix is used to accommodate the abrasive layer. The material of the matrix is related to the material of the binder.

Metal bonding agents generally use steel and alloy steel powder as the base, and resin bonding agents use aluminum alloy and bakelite as the base.
